Project On the Move was launched on March 11, 2016 with a party at a refugee shelter in Berlin to mark the International Women’s Day. Women of Syrian, Iraqi, Iranian and Afghani backgrounds cooked a meal in the kitchen of a nearby church as the shelter does not have cooking facilities. We invited neighbours and friends from outside the camp to join in the feast. Musician Or Sarfati brought his oud and Noize Fabrik contributed the PA system. We ate, danced and sang in an atmosphere of friendship and solidarity.
